Established in 1962, IMA's Awards of Excellence program is an annual program open to all companies demonstrating outstanding examples of magnesium's use. Nominations are judged by a panel system of peer reviewers.

The IMA awards demonstrate a high standard of excellence. In all cases the products, processes and technology were in commercial practice and successful, representing a significant advance over past practice.
All submitted entries were recognized and displayed at the Annual World Magnesium Conference in corresponding years. The IMA routinely announces award winners at the Awards and Recognition Dinner and have the winning entries prominently displayed during the entire conference. Winners have the opportunity to present detailed information of their submissions during the general sessions.
Award winners are recognized worldwide and receive extensive publicity within the IMA and the metals industry. Besides being displayed on the IMA website, winning entries are promoted through press releases.
IMA Environmental Responsibility Award
The International Magnesium Association (IMA) has announced the establishment of a newly created award to recognize companies that are playing an active role in reducing the magnesium industry’s carbon footprint and that exemplify the industry’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The IMA International Environmental Responsibility Award is presented each year at the IMA Annual World Magnesium Conference.
The International Environmental Responsibility Awards are presented for each of two categories:
Group 1: Magnesium Production and Processing
Group 2: Magnesium Applications and Components
The Award(s) are co-sponsored by IMA Member companies and/or other allied industry associations from within the host region of the Annual World Magnesium Conference in the given year.
All submitted entries are recognized and on display at the Annual World Magnesium Conference.
