Magontec Qinghai - the worlds greenest magnesium alloys

In Q4 2017 Magontec Limited (ASX Code: MGL) opened its latest magnesium alloy cast house at Golmud in Qinghai Province, PRC. The new cast house will produce magnesium alloys for Magontec customers in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

The Magontec cast house is situated adjacent to the Qinghai Salt Lake Magnesium electrolytic magnesium facility that has a rated output of 100,000 metric tonnes per annum.

The electrolytic magnesium facility in Qinghai is expected to increase output capacity in the years ahead and will become a major force in global magnesium production, challenging the current Pidgeon Process supply chain in terms of volume and environmental credentials.

The QSLM facility at Golmud has the highest environmental standards in the global magnesium industry. The facility will use renewable energy as its principal source of energy.

Material from Magontec Qinghai will set a new benchmark for low-carbon magnesium manufacturing for a material that already enjoys high recycling rates.

Magontec’s investment in the new magnesium alloy cast house facility at Golmud positions the Company as a leading global supplier of magnesium alloy and magnesium alloy products.
