Founded in 1937, Chicago White Metal Casting operates today under third-generation family management from a modern 136,000 sq. ft. custom die casting facility in Bensenville, Illinois, near Chicago’s O'Hare International Airport.
CWM was a pioneer in hot-chamber magnesium production as the first North American custom die caster utilizing this faster-cycling process. Its magnesium experience has set a standard for close-toleranced, thin-wall, net- and near-net shape Mg housings. CWM operates the largest custom hot-chamber Mg department in North America.
From the beginning, CWM became one of the first adopters of thin-wall zinc hot-chamber die casting technology for complex, lighter-weight Zn parts. With the addition of cold-chamber aluminum die casting, CWM integrated successive porosity-reduction techniques into Al production. Today CWM is leveraging the processing predictability of Magmasoft® die casting software simulation to optimize net-shape components.
Its management systems are ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 registered. Prototypes are generated from CAD files in-house by CNC machining from billet or by FDM technology in ABS. CWM offers volume CNC production machining and final part finishing, as well as turnkey contract manufacturing including stock product procurement and assembly through destination packaging.
