IMA Awards of Excellence

Established in 1962, IMA's Awards of Excellence program is an annual program open to all companies demonstrating outstanding examples of magnesium's use. Nominations are judged by a panel system of peer reviewers.

The deadline for the 2013 IMA Awards of Excellence has past.  Please check back later for information on 2014.

Fill out the entry form on the next page and submit it along with photos (digital in jpg or tif format, 300 dpi, or printed) of your entry and descriptive, supportive material. Digital materials are preferred. Original parts are not required as part of your entry. Winners will be required to supply samples for
the Annual Conference.

Nominations are open to all - IMA member companies, their customers, or anyone in the magnesium industry. IMA's Awards Program winners are selected from the following categories:

These categories recognize unique, novel and creative design and development. The design and engineering must demonstrate a significant advance over current practice.

Process

• Primary Production

• Improvements in Manufacturing Techniques Leading to Higher Quality and Reduced Costs
• Innovations in Management Systems in Manufacturing
  

Process recognizes innovation in manufacturing or processing technology.

Application

• Creativity
• Innovation
• Uniqueness
• Commercial Success

Application recognizes a significant advance resulting in a large volume potential for magnesium.

The IMA awards demonstrate a high standard of excellence. In all cases the products, processes and technology must be in commercial practice and successful, representing a significant advance over past practice.

All submitted entries will be recognized and on display at the Annual World Magnesium Conference. The IMA will announce the award winners at the Awards and Recognition Dinner and have their entries prominently displayed during the entire conference. Winners will present detailed information on their submissions during the general sessions.

Award winners are recognized worldwide and receive extensive publicity within the IMA and the metals industry. Winning entries will be displayed on the IMA web site and promoted through press releases.

IMA Environmental Responsibility Award

The International Magnesium Association (IMA) has announced the establishment of a newly created award to recognize companies that are playing an active role in reducing the magnesium industry’s carbon footprint and that exemplify the industry’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The IMA International Environmental Responsibility Award will be presented each year at the IMA Annual World Magnesium Conference.

The award(s) are presented based on the achieved and documented reduction of carbon dioxide equivalents within the calendar year preceding the Annual World Conference. It is intended to include all aspects of the magnesium industry from primary production through to end-user industries. Judging will be conducted by an international panel of experts.

The International Environmental Responsibility Awards are presented for each of two categories:

Group 1: Magnesium Production and Processing
Group 2: Magnesium Applications and Components

The Award(s) are cosponsored by IMA Member companies and/or other allied industry associations from within the host region of the Annual World Magnesium Conference in the given year.
