Wauconda, Illinois- The International Magnesium Association (IMA) will conduct its 47th Annual Awards of Excellence Competition to recognize outstanding examples of magnesium products and manufacturing technologies. Organizations and individuals with a product or technology that demonstrate the exceptional use of magnesium can enter the competition, whether or not they are a member of IMA.

Entries are grouped in three categories: Design, Process, and Application. The Design Category is divided into subcategories of Cast Products—Automotive and Commercial—and Wrought Products. Winning entries in the Design Category will demonstrate unique, novel, and creative design and development showing significant advance over current practice. The Process Category recognizes innovation in manufacturing or processing technology that leads to higher quality and reduced costs. Entries in the Application Category must demonstrate significant advances resulting in large volume potential for magnesium. The deadline for entries is February 15, 2010.

A peer review panel of international experts will judge the entries. Select entries will be displayed during the 2010 World Magnesium Conference May 16 -18, in Hong Kong. Winning entries will be recognized during the conference and displayed on the IMA website following the conference.
